Press me into a record when I die. Just don't give me a bad review!

Gather 'round by little children and let me tell you a tale of the olden days.  Back when you had to buy records from only hearing one song on the radio.  Maybe you heard someone else talking about the record before you bought it.  You kids with your Internets and every song ever created at your fingertips!  You don't know what hard work is!

1 Wyld Stallyn - Not cool.  Kinda weird.
2 Wyld Stallyns - Okay.  But did you pay money for that?  Ugh.
3 Wyld Stallyns - This is cool.  Might even pay a couple of bucks for this.
4 Wyld Stallyns - All my thumbs are up.  I like this.
5 Wyld Stallyns - MOST EXCELLENT!

Best Coast "The Only Place" 5 Wyld Stallyns - San Dimas High School football rules!!
I'm a sucker for catchy, poppy, strummy, upbeat indie rock and this is about as good as it gets.  Yes the first song "The Only Place" is basically a commercial for California it still gets my foot tapping.  Even when Best Coast slows it down a bit, "No One Like You",  they still use enough strumming and percussion to keep things moving along.  This record also strikes a chord with me because it sounds like two of my favorite Milwaukee bands, The Sugar Stems and Testa Rosa, smooshed together like a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup.  (Too many capital letters?)  I really like this and I will most likely buy the CD.  Highlights: "The Only Place" and "How They Want Me To Be".

Tenacious D "Rize of the Fenix" 1.5 Wyld Stallyns - Can't Bill and Ted do a record instead?
Me: Does humor belong in music?
Ghost of Frank Zappa: Watch out where the huskies go,
and don't you eat that yellow snow!

Me: So that's a no then?
This record is a mix of the "funny" rock tunes that you have heard from The D before blended with comedy bits.  Think Frank Zappa meets Cheech and Chong and then slap yourself for thinking of that comparison.  I mean it's not terrible but I'm halfway through the album and I haven't even chuckled once.   It would be pretty cool if I was 14, no wait, 10 years old but then again how many 10 year olds are buying music these days?  Good luck Jack and Kyle.  Or just go do another movie that we can all check out on Netflix in a couple years.  Highlights: You can play count the F-Bombs!

Willie Nelson "A Horse Called Music" 5 Wyld Stallyns - The old guy has still got it!
Willie brings in a bunch of his family and friends to help him rock out another classic country record.  His voice is as beautiful (to my ears) as ever.  The songs range from the slow waltz of "That's All There Is To This Song" to the rollicking "Roll Me Up" (and smoke me when I die) featuring Snoop Dogg singing!  Yes singing!  It's a fun and sometimes heartbreakingly beautiful collection of really nice songs.  Sorry Willie but I won't be toking up to listen to this but really who needs to when it's this good?  Highlights: "A Horse Called Music" and "Roll Me Up".
